I would ask Billy about this one Rolf,I think the rubber is open cell below the skin of the sci-fire. I know Billy has drilled out the barrel of hes so he should be able to fill you in on what he found under the surface ,if its hard material then you should be ok.The other way might be with a hot knife,this would seal the cut face.

I think i have seen someone somewhere cut out the front sight.. i know the barrell has some pipe inside the core..
