Lukes chest and back plate

Been studding Lukes armour ,and iam wondering how the chest and back plates were attached to the top of the kidney and top of the torso seeing that Lukes chest and back plates were cut at the bottom where the return edges would have been and where the straping brackets would have been placed on the origanal troopers armour , i know they had to make a lot of alterations for Luke , but dose anyone know how the chest and back plates were conected ? .

My guess is either a. not at all or b. tape on the inside.
